Story Lab WOC supports writers of color with script development. Open to writers at all stages, great for published authors planning a screen adaptation. Upon completion of this self-paced program, writers emerge with an industry-ready feature script.
$49 registration for first month, nonrefundable.
$49 monthly subscription thereafter billed on the 15th of each month via PayPal, cancel at any time with 30-day notice.
AUXmedia Story Lab WOC’s goal is to remove the typical barriers for underrepresented writers. Story Lab WOC is unique because it is subscription-based (payable monthly) and a mere fraction of the cost of traditional development programs (compare at $5,000).
Participants work one-on-one with the AUXmedia founder, H. Buchanan, primarily via email with an optional 20-minute Skype session each month.
Participants retain their copyright at all times.
Email pdf files to email@example.com with “STORY LAB WOC” in the heading. Participants proficient in Movie Magic can export to pdf. Buchanan will provide notes/feedback via online comment tools. Notes will cover all aspects of proper screenwriting, but submissions with excessive spelling errors will be rejected. Participant has the right to disagree with comments but should make every effort to address highlighted issues.
Participants work at their own pace, but are expected to make contact at least monthly. Email requests from AUXmedia should be answered within 48 hours.
After Program Completion:
Participants are free to use their completed scripts as they wish.
Select participants may receive an option offer from AUXmedia.

By registering for a service with AUXmedia, client confirms and agrees to the following:
Registration fee is nonrefundable.
Writer owns the copyright at all times.
The work submitted does not infringe on the copyright of any other work.
The work submitted does not violate the rights to privacy or publicity of any person or constitute a defamation against any person.
Writer will not hold AUXmedia LLC nor its affiliates responsible for any loss, perceived or otherwise. Service does not guarantee access to any film-related third-party entity.
Writer understands that because of its involvement in the entertainment industry, AUXmedia LLC receives unsolicited submissions of ideas, formats, stories, suggestions and the like. Writer further acknowledges the possibility that the Writer’s material may be identical or similar to material that AUXmedia LLC has received from other sources.
Service in no form represents a partnership or employee or contractual relationship with AUXmedia LLC or any of its affiliates.
AUXmedia LLC reserves the right to reject and/or cancel a project for any reason and at any time.
If Writer seeks to cancel service, please notify AUXmedia in writing with a 30-day notice. Previous months’ service fees are nonrefundable.
Any disputes will be resolved in Detroit, Michigan per American Arbitration Association rules.
Adapted books—Author must provide proof of copyright ownership (copy of certificate or registration number). If AUXmedia makes an option offer in the future, Author must provide proof that he/she owns the film/dramatic rights to the book.
Writer must reply to AUXmedia emails within 48 hours.
